Happy Thanksgiving!

First of all, we want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. We hope everyone was able to enjoy the holidays with a little time off. Now for the update.... WOW, when they told us we would be doing a lot of paperwork and that it would take 2-3 months, they weren't kidding. We have had to gather certified copies of all our documents (Birth certificates, marriage license, etc.), fill out multiple agency applications, and multiple different background and abuse checks in multiple states. Texas even goes above and beyond by requiring their own investigations apart from everyone else’s. Not to mention we haven't even started the home study process or paperwork yet. We will hopefully be starting the home study applications this week and will start scheduling the home visits after that. Who knows, maybe after all these background checks and home visits, they will throw in a top-secret security clearance for free. A little 2 for one deal. Just kidding. Anyways, the reality of it all has not fully begun to sink in yet. It’s kind of weird starting to prepare for a baby that you don’t have a due date or even a rough ball park date for. They say that typically from the time you finish your paperwork, it could take up to a year to be matched, but usually averages about 6 months. Maybe it will begin to feel a little more real then.
