And So It Begins! - 11/15/2021

Well, everyone, we are happy to say in our first post that our adoption application has been accepted! We partnered up with a company named Faithful Adoption Consultants (FAC). They are a faith-based consultant company that help facilitate adoptions all over the United States. We will spend the next few months filling out paperwork, completing our home study, and building our profile that will be presented to the expectant mothers. Once all of that is complete, we will start being matched with expectant mothers in order to find that perfect child. They have told us that it could take up to a year to be matched, but typically takes around 6 months. Here is a little on how the process will work:

Expectant mothers will begin the adoption process at a local agency in their home state. Meanwhile, we will begin building our adoption profile with FAC. Agencies will send expectant mother's profiles to FAC, at which point FAC will compare the profile to see if her preferences match our preferences. If they do, FAC will send us a profiles to review on a rolling basis. We then let FAC know if we would like them to present our profile to the mother. FAC will then send our profile along with a handful of others to the expectant mother and she will choose which family she would like to match with. After we match and the baby is born, we will travel to the birth mother in order to pick up the baby. It will take a few weeks to do the adoption paperwork in the mother’s home state before we can come home. After we bring the child home, we will have a few more home visits from a social worker and then it will take a few months for the adoption to be fully final.
